The Mindfulness Bell is a journal of the art of mindful living. To be mindful means to dwell deeply in the present moment, to be aware of what is going on within and around us. Practicing mindfulness cultivates understanding, love, compassion, and joy. This practice helps us to take care of and transform suffering in our lives and in our society.

The Mindfulness Bell is an inspiration and teaching resource for those practicing mindfulness in daily life. Each issue features a recent teaching by our teacher, Vietnamese Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh.

Also included are stories and teachings by teachers and students in this lineage, based on the author’s direct experience of transformation through the practice of mindfulness. Instead of giving academic or intellectual views, the teachings emphasize simple and successful ways to transform the difficulties and limitations in our lives so that each day becomes an experience of peace, happiness, and freedom....continued

The July 2010 issue of Shambhala Sun magazine features a wonderful interview and profile:

Love & Liberation: An Interview with Thich Nhat Hanh

Peace in Every Step: Thich Nhat Hanh's Life of Courage and Compassion

Dear Friends,

Thanks to the contributions of many Sangha members, the Summer 2010 issue has manifested wonderfully. This issue features an excerpt from Thay's essay, Bat Nha: A Koan. The complete essay may be viewed here. The magazine offers commentaries and insights about Thay's teaching from lay and monastic Sangha friends. Our teacher and fellow practitioners guide us to look compassionately into the hearts of others, and enter into a fearless practice of interbeing.

With a theme of Mindful Education, this issue offers a wonderful collection of stories, photos, activities, and resources on teaching and learning. These stories show us how we might bring mindful practices not just to schools, but also to our families, friends, and co-workers—the people we teach every day with our actions, our words, our presence.
